According to the London police, after being taken to the London police station, at the request of the US authorities, Assange was arrested again at 10:53 am local time (17:53 Beijing time). The London police said: "This is an extradition order issued under section 73 of the Extradition Act. Later today, Assange will appear in the Westminster District Court for trial."
If the US Department of Justice accuses the charges, Assange will face up to five years in prison. Of course, if you plead guilty, Assange’s actual sentence may be less than five years.
As early as 2010, the WikiLeaks website created by Assange published a large number of secret documents involving the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, causing great sensation and controversy, and the international reputation of the United States was also damaged.
In June 2012, Assange entered the Ecuadorian embassy in London to seek asylum until today.
